Like everything else in life, travel is getting more expensive.
Drastically so, according to Hotels.com. The travel site analyzed recent travel data and came up with some pretty shocking statistics. Daily rates for the most popular travel destinations rose about 22%, year-over-year.
And American travelers globe-trotting at the beginning of 2011 paid anywhere from 13% 18% more than they would have done the previous year.
Each of the 10 most expensive tourist destinations costs American jet setters more than $800 per night, and in the most expensive city, a single night can cost twice that amount.
